SPF-PFS’s mission is to engage all Native American’s within Harney County in the decision making process towards encouraging and educating health and wellness to reduce alcohol abuse.
The Burns Paiute Tribe SPF-PFS program is to create a healthy, safe alcohol free community. Where the community members contribute to the planning and implementation of prevention through cultural restoration.
The Burns Paiute Tribe was selected as a sub-recipient for Oregon’s Strategic Prevention Framework Partnership for Success grant (SPF-PFS) from the Federal Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
The purpose of the project is to build on the work of the Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG) and to implement the five components of the SPF planning model at both state and community levels in Oregon, and to choose one of the following Nations Prevention Priorities through assessment and data collection of our community (Burns Paiute Tribe).
